York University's Leading
Antisemite

Alex Verman Green is an Antisemite

Overview

Alex Verman Green [Alexandra Verman] has glorified the Hamas terror group, expresse expressed support for terrorism, spread hatred of Israel and America, and engaged in anti-Israel activism.

Green’s pro-Hamas tweets were published following a series of terror attacks and war crimes the group perpetrated against Israeli civilians. Their crimes included mass murder, torture, rape, beheadings and kidnappings, which were executed on October 7, 2023. Their terror attacks left over 1,200 Israelis dead, hundreds kidnapped and thousands wounded. Israel retaliated with a war called “Swords of Iron.”

Hamas has been designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S., Canada, European Union, Israel and other countries. Founded in 1987, it has killed thousands of Israeli civilians through mass shootings and suicide bombings. Hamas has also kidnapped children, families and the elderly and held them hostage in Gaza. It has desecrated [slide 2] dead bodies and launched numerous rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.
Green has also opposed the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism.

Green is a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

In 2019, Green was an activist with Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA) at the University of Toronto (UofT). SAIA is an alternative name for anti-Israel campus group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

Green’s now-deleted LinkedIn profile also said Green was an activist with Toronto-based anti-Israel group Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV Canada) and reportedly a “Campus Volunteer” for the IJV Student Network at UofT from September 2015 to April 2016.

As of January 2023, Green’s website stated that Green was a writer, working as a “freelance journalist, cultural critic, and content strategist in downtown Toronto.”

Also as of January 2023, Green was pursuing a law degree at the Osgoode Hall Law School (Osgoode), York University’s law school, in Toronto, Ontario.

As of January 2023, Green’s website stated that Green received a master’s degree from the Department of Political Science “in collaboration with the Centre for Diaspora and Transnational Studies” from UofT, reportedly in 2021.

Green, who also goes by the name Alex V. Green, reportedly graduated from UofT with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2016.

As of December 18, 2023, Green went by the username “DJ CISWOMAN” and the handle “@dj_CISWOMAN” on Twitter.

Green has also used the handle “@HormonalJew” on Twitter, and has gone by several usernames on this now-suspended account. In January 2023, Green went by the username “in russia doing research,” in August 2022 by “New York F**king City Baby” and in September 2021 by “i have a boyfriend.”

Glorifying Hamas Terrorists

On December 8, 2023, during the Jewish holiday of Chanukah, Green tweeted: “chag sameach [happy holiday] and may God continue to guide and protect the brave resistance and deliver victory into the hands of Hamas…”

On November 30, 2023, Green tweeted: “…if the words ‘condemn Hamas’ ever left your lips in earnest i hate you for life.”

On November 19, 2023, Green tweeted: “…I cheered for Hamas on Oct 7…”

On November 3, 2023, Green tweeted: “every politician who has fixed their mouth to ‘condemn hamas’ at any time in the last month should gather to kiII themselves all together…”

On October 26, 2023, Green tweeted: “the other day my mom was like ‘well I’m just worried because I think Iran is behind Hamas,’ and I was like well famously Iran is good.”

Support for Terrorists

On September 7, 2022, Green tweeted: “…remember that Hezbollah defeated the Zionist entity once and it will soon do so again.”

Hezbollah has long been known as an anti-Semitic and genocidal terror organization dedicated to destroying Israel.

On August 9, 2022, Green tweeted: “I am and will always be in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance through any tactic they use. not only is it legally permissible for an occupied group to resist militarily, but it is unquestionably necessary and just.
for us outside of occupied Palestine, our program is BDS.”

Among Palestinians and anti-Israel activists, the term “resistance” can be a euphemism for nationalistic terror. It is often used to excuse or even glorify anti-Israel and anti-Semitic violence.

On August 7, 2022, Green tweeted: “resistance rockets making it to occupied Yaffa [Jaffa], wow baruch hashem [thank God].”

In August 2022, terror organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) threatened attacks on Israeli civilians. Israel preemptively launched Operation Breaking Dawn (OBD). Both PIJ’s northern and southern senior commanders in Gaza, Tayseer al-Jabari and Khaled Mansour, were killed in targeted Israeli airstrikes. PIJ responded by launching more than 1,000 rockets toward Israeli cities.

On November 9, 2021, Green tweeted: “I am tweeting in solidarity with Palestinian hunger strikers, Kayed, Miqdad, Alaa, Hisham, Ayyad and Loay. Join me!…#FreeThemAll# معركة_الامعاء_الخاوية [the battle of empty bellies; simply put, a hunger strike].”

In October 2021, six prisoners affiliated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ)‘s armed wing, the Al-Quds Brigades, chose to prolong their hunger strike in protest of their administrative detention by Israel. The six men were Kayed al-Fasfus, Miqdad al-Qawasmeh, Alaa Aaraj, Hisham Abu Hawwash, Shadi Abu-Akr and Ayyad Hureimi.

Hatred of Israel

On April 12, 2018, Green tweeted: “may Israel crumble & dissolve before a single IDF [Israel Defense Forces] soldier steps foot in Syria.”

On January 22, 2019, Green tweeted: “Israel doesn’t have a right to exist next question.”

On November 21, 2019, Green published an article in Jewish Currents titled: “‘Mere Disruption Won’t Alter Birthright’s Agenda.’”

Birthright Israel is a heritage trip to Israel for Jewish young adults from across the world.

In the article, Green wrote: “In theory, any activism that seeks to loosen Birthright’s stranglehold on Jewish identity in North America is admirable,” but “Going on the trips…undermines the BDS movement and solidarity with Palestinian activists.”

Green went on to say: “If Jewish activists were truly committed to ending the occupation of Palestine—from the river to the sea…then they could at least follow the example of Jewish Voice for Peace and reject Birthright entirely.”

“From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” is a chant calling to dismantle the State of Israel. It has also been employed by Hamas leader Khaled Mashal to call for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic state.

On May 20, 2021, following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas during Israel’s Operation Guardian of the Walls (OGW), Green tweeted: “IsraeI was committing genocide in Gaza before the ceasefire and it will continue to be committing genocide in Gaza after the ceasefire. Every moment the blockade continues, every moment the occupation remains, is another infliction of genocide.”

In May 2021, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorists fired over 4,300 rockets from Gaza at major population centers in Israel. Israel responded by launching OGW, carrying out targeted military strikes in Gaza.

Israel and Egypt implemented a United Nations-approved [pp. 39–41] joint blockade of the Gaza Strip in 2011 to stop Hamas from acquiring more sophisticated rockets.

On December 14, 2021, Green published an article in Gawker titled: “The New Zionism” in which Green challenged the claim that Jews were indigenous to the land of Israel. Green wrote: “But far from adding to its legitimacy, these claims further demonstrate Israel’s consistency with settler colonialism as a project.”

In the Gawker article, Green also accused Israel of using “pinkwashing” and “greenwashing” as a means “to bolster Israel’s massive tourism industry.”

“Pinkwashing” is a claim that Israel advocates manipulate the LGBTQ community in order to garner support for Israel.

“Greenwashing” is a claim by anti-Israel activists that Israel manipulates the environmentalist agenda to deflect international attention from Israel’s alleged “persecution of the Palestinians.”

On August 11, 2022, Green tweeted: “anyway death to Israel lol.”

On August 14, 2022, Green tweeted: “I’m so hungover bro f**k israel.

Hatred of America

As of December 18, 2023, Green’s Twitter account photo showed the burning of an American flag together with an Israeli flag.

On December 26, 2018, Green tweeted: “Roses are red, Violets are blue, Death to America, and Israel too.”

Anti-Israel Activism

On January 7, 2024, Green was featured in an Instagram video after Green reportedly ripped down posters of Israeli civilians kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and held hostage in Gaza. Green can be seen in the video wearing [00:00:25] a Palestinian keffiyeh. Green’s accomplice was Khalil Qasem. The incident reportedly occurred in Toronto.

When confronted by the person recording Green and Qasem on camera, Qasem said [00:00:01]: “[This] is bulls**t. Israel is killing children every single day with indiscriminate bombings…They’re shooting anybody they see. This is a genocide and it needs to stop. Those posters supporting Israel are promoting a genocide. Do you have any problems with that?…Do you know what happened in 1948?”

The modern State of Israel was founded in 1948.

Opposing the IHRA Definition of Anti-Semitism

In February 2020, Green signed IJV Canada’s “Open Letter from 650+ Canadian Academics Opposing the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 other countries have adopted the definition as well.

IJV has promoted Holocaust denial and has been accused of peddling “antisemitism under the guise of radical anti-Zionism.” The group has also promoted the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) highlights multiple forms of contemporary anti-Semitism related to Israel, including “Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor” and “Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.” The U.S. State Department adopted the IHRA’s working definition of anti-Semitism in 2016. Over 40 other countries have adopted the definition as well.
